ROB ROY IN A FLASK

The Rob Roy cocktail is similar to the beloved Manhattan, except the Rob Roy calls for scotch instead of American whiskey. The swap from bourbon (or rye) to scotch may not seem significant, but the difference is notable. And delicious.

Preparation: Combine all the ingredients in a mixing glass and stir without ice to combine. Funnel the cocktail into your flask and seal.

GIMLET

The gimlet is a cocktail made of gin and lime juice. A 1928 description of the drink was: gin, and a spot of lime. A description in the 1953 Raymond Chandler novel The Long Goodbye stated that “a real gimlet is half gin and half Rose’s lime juice cordial and nothing else.”

The Brooklyn may be less well-known than its neighbor, the Manhattan, but it’s equally delicious. The maraschino liqueur (we recommend Luxardo) adds a rich sweetness, which compensates for the fact that dry rather than sweet vermouth is used.
